Saturn
Saturn. Its name originated from the roman God of agriculture Saturn. It is made up of a core of iron, nickel, and rock. Saturn also has a very hot interior and it is the only planet in the solar system that is less dense than water.
It is obviously the sixth planet from the sun. Its great size is the second largest in planets and is 95 times as big as Earth. There could fit about 700 Earths in Saturn. It takes about 29.46 Earth years for Saturn to orbit around our sun. Saturn is a gas giant. Which means it is big like I said and is contained with a lot of gases. The gases are mostly helium and hydrogen. Saturn contains wind speeds up to 1,100 miles per hour.
One thing for sure Saturn is known for its thin rings. If you can see Saturn it looks like it has 7 rings. The rings are only about 30 to 300 feet thick. The rings were named in the order they found it in. So the first ring they found was named the A ring. The rings were first seen by the eyes of a man named Galileo. How do you think the rings were formed? Scientist don’t actually know how. They say it might have something to do with its moons. Saturn has about 60 moons that orbit it. Titan is the only Saturn moon with an atmosphere. The moon Titan is larger than Mercury.
Saturn has over 30 known satellites, but many are small and faint.
Cassini is the latest NASA spacecraft to visit Saturn. It left Earth in 1997 and arrived at Saturn 7 years later. I chose this target because Saturn is one of the planets that are special and has to be known or is known for its layers of rings, interiors, size, gases, and its name.
