Is it so wrong

To wish for a life of freedom,

Of happiness undisturbed?

Really, there is only one

Thing I truly want

To live without nagging fear,

To exist without crushing anxiety

Even if only for a day,

I want to live with nothing

But sheer happiness,

Exuberant joy

I don't need anything else

This is all I ask for,

Just a simple request

It's not too much, right?

So why hasn't my only wish

Been granted yet?

I’m exhausted just like any other frazzled mom. As if chasing after a three-year-old every day isn’t enough, I also have many ambitions that reach outside of the realm of motherhood.

My thoughts stream out swift and nimble, but my body lags behind fighting tooth-and-nail to keep up. I agonize over going to bed because there’s still so much I want to do. I don’t want the day to come to a close even though my body aches for rest. I lay down, but my racing thoughts keep me painfully awake.

So if I had one wish, it would be for a body that can keep up with my mind.

I wish for all of it.

All the clichés

To feel weak at my knees

Have my heart flutter

Melt in his arms

Feel warmth to flood through my body

To feel

Anything.

I ask myself my I have a boyfriend,

Yet, I just hold on

Waiting for him to somehow grant my wish
