all it silent in the end
I've never heard that kind of siren before
imitations of wailing children
the manufactured scream of a woman watching her child torn to shreds
the sound of a freight train's sudden stop
the mere sound of it causes me to join the symphony of crying
we have watched our brothers die
at one another's hands
there is no one left but the helpless
as the sky descends
maybe if we hide
we'll get to keep our flesh
but they've already got our scent
darkness was never this black
the sirens and the stopping of time
I'd never heard that kind of siren before...
It woke me from my light sleep, and I lean over to check the clock.
It's 1:11 in the morning. Weird--I don't usually wake up this early, not even to get water or anything. Usually I'm too passed out to care.
I turn on the light by my bed and listen. EEEEooooowww-
The siren doesn't seem to finish its sound, and I'm beginning to get a little scared.
My mom is a light sleeper, so I figure she's probably awake.
EEEEooooooww...
Okay, that's it.
The siren echoes over the...where IS it coming from, across the water or the land?
Suddenly a scratching noise comes from the side of my wall under the window, making me jump. Ssccrch...
Claws? From a cat? No it sounds bigger...
The scratching intensifies. I switch off the light.
Whatever's out there isn't going away.
I sigh and pull the covers up under my chin. What if I'm dreaming? No, because I never see the time in my dreams. It certainly wouldn't be 1:11 AM...
Oh.
The time hasn't changed since about ten minutes ago when I first looked.
Something is definitely wrong here.
EEEooooowww.....
I'd never heard that kind of siren before, I thought as watched my television. After awhile, I noticed the siren was still going, never changing its volume. It was a constant WHAAAAAA. It seemed to follow me wherever I went, never fluctuating. It was like it was right behind my ear, but nothing was ever there when I looked in the mirror. I went to the kitchen and glanced over at the oven. In its glossy reflection, I could see someone behind me, mouth open, hands up with sharp claws near my head. The creature was hideous. It had a white tone to its skin and was wearing all black. I quickly turned around to face it, in which it stopped screaming. It smiled at me and said, "boo," before leaping on me and ripping out my heart. The last thing I remember is it standing over my body, eating my heart.
