My Favourite Sport.
As a younger man I ran and ran, I was good at it. I cycled, vaulted, climbed, swam and ran some more.
I boxed, light welterweight and southpaw, and I was carried from the ring so many times they stitched handles onto my shorts.
I played golf then realised I was better at caddying than driving. I rode motorbikes in all weathers and I wear the scars like trophies.
But now I kick back, sup my Shiraz and watch other hopefuls as they contort their bodies and their ego's only to make complete and utter twats out of themselves. Yes.
Favorite sports!
Soccer is my first favorite sport but I also like softball. I like how both are competitive and fun with lots of energy and hope. Always someone has to win at one point of the game, but I will always say to myself it's not always about the winning... It's also about how much fun you had and how you played! I very much like soccer and softball but I also have other sports like swimming and I have fun playing football but I don't really know how to play. All these sports I really enjoy!
Say Hey - But He Hates That
It was during the summer of 1967 when my dad took me to my first baseball game. The wonder that I felt when we got into the car and began the 45 mile drive to the big city of Los Angeles turned into excitement and joy as we turned off the highway and onto the winding road to Chavez Ravine.
My dad had given me my first real baseball glove earlier that same summer, so I was finally able to play catch with him and my big brother. Nothing better in the world.
The Giants were in town, which happened a lot in those days. When #24, Willie Mays, was introduced, I felt a sense of awe, for here was the greatest player ever.
He didn't disappoint, and I've been a Giants fan ever since.
