Finding My Way.
It’s a crisp Fall day in a small town in Cape Breton.
The leaves are beginning to change from the warm green summery shade to Autumn’s beautiful yellows, oranges and reds.
A bouncy, cheery 26-year old spunky woman hops out of her car- but not before stealing a quick smooch from her beau who she truly adores.
Clocking in to yet another serving shift as she’s done for the past 3-years now, with the same thoughts running through her head everyday.
They usually begin with a sigh-
She is grateful to have a job that pays the bills but she’s hungry for so much more.
Eager to follow her passion and dive head first.
But how can someone follow the unknown?
Feeling pressured by her peers who have found passion in their careers, meanwhile she’s stuck in this indecisive realm of “what next?”
Her parents- focused on her working a job that will provide her with proper health care and great pay.
These are important in life yes- but those are only a few of the boxes checked on the list of her dream job.
What about happiness and excitement?
Fulfillment?
Joy?
Peace?
She wants to bounce out of bed every morning knowing she loves what she’s doing and putting positivity back into the world.
As the days go on she loses hope.
“You’re still young! You’ve got time to figure it out.”, they all say.
But with each day she feels no closer to her finding her way.
Relying on tips and living paycheck-to-paycheck has been the only thing she’s known for the majority of her adult life now.
Tips can be great most nights, sure.
But it’s the unknown that makes her uneasy.
Will she make enough tips to make rent by the end of the month?
..it’s already the 26th..
There’s so much she wants to do and see.
However, that seems so out of reach right now living this lifestyle.
Why do we put so much stress on money and jobs?
We forget the importance of happiness and love and being kind to one another.
She’s lucky enough to have found the love of her life young- at age 21.
So full of fun and love for one another, they do everything together.
”Don’t you get sick of one another?” people always ask them.
Not even a little bit.
That’s what happens when you find your person.
So for now, she is at peace.. for she knows how lucky she is to have found someone so simply perfect for her.
She’ll take that over a meaningless, good paying job anyday.
Happiness and Love.
