My Struggles Are Over But I Am Sorry
In life, I was surrounded by family and friends and yet I was so alone.
My existence involved daily struggles and demons that were all my own.
You did not see this pain because I wanted to give you laughter or a smile,
And that sight and sound eased my pain but only for a little while.
Like your laughter and your smiles, my demons often helped me to forget,
But they also brought heartache and filled me with deep regret.
As hard as I tried to stand strong against them all, I still fell.
Struggling with the demons of addiction is pure hell.
If I have left you wondering how you could have helped me out,
Or with “what ifs” and “should haves” that plagues you with doubt,
Please understand, this is not your fault, there was nothing more you could have done.
I was not trying to leave you...
I was trying to extinguish the fire that was my pain, and my demons won.
I really did not want to leave you this way.
And maybe you will find peace and forgive me one day.
My struggles are over but I am sorry to have broken your heart and caused you to grieve.
I will watch over you and be by your side, and that, I hope you can believe.
For My Daughter...
I’d give you the world
I’d chase all of your demons away
I’d give you everlasting sunshine
I’d give you happiness that would last forever and a day.
I’d give you all of these things if only I could.
Deep in your heart, you know I would.
But you are grown now
You are your own woman.
The decisions you make
will define the world you live in.
I see a strong woman
Willing to forge her own path
May it be filled with sunshine and happiness
The kind that I would give you...
May it be full of a love for life
and be the life you want to live.
Truth Be Told
Sad is the day
You realize that you can no longer pretend
There comes a time you must realize an end
Toil about it all
The “what could have beens”
Now bonds lay broken sometimes at the price of friends
You search for truths
To soothe your aching soul
Those truths you neither conjured nor controlled
Yet there is a veracity
Which only you may know of secretes held deep inside
The ones you kept buried to rescue your latent pride
It matters not what anyone else will think
But to save your rightness the only goal
Regardless if others rule your actions either ruthless or cold
The end result which is clearly dictated by which side you are on
The one that holds the truths or the ones that are spun
Regardless, you should revel, you are alive, you prosper, thus you have won.
Moral of this story in short
Never let the past tear down you or your personal well-being
That would surely deny your truths and your instinctual feelings
Follow not just your heart but your mind as well
Listen to that innate voice … the one on which you would place all bets
And you shall live a life with no regrets
