Refusing to speak of things that cause grief, a mother's conversations are never about issues. A mother does not have issues because issues cause grief. Grief makes one weak. To keep strength, issues are ignored.

A mother has three daughters. Two daughters met the third in the third's third year of life. Nineteen years later, the news surfaced that each daughter had a father different from the next. This information, although surprising, did not surprise. A mother preached always to be honest because the truth will not go ignored.

There was always a man around but never was he there. He went by daddy until dad felt more comfortable because it was a sound that lasted for two letters less. The man did not know what it meant to be a father and it never felt like he was one. The mother was around so infrequently sometimes it felt as though she did not exist. But still, there were people to appease and rules to follow.

Two days before a mother's birthday news was delivered that the man possibly didn't know what it meant to be a father because he was not one. Two days before a mother's birthday, her possible truth was brought into the light.
