dance with me
once
lived a girl.
once
lived a boy.
they danced together
in their poofy white clothes
not caring about
anything else
or
anyone else.
after some time,
her feet began to bleed.
after some time,
her head became heavy.
he did not care.
he dug his fingernails into
her waist
to keep her standing.
he brought her
tiny band-aids
to cover the wounds.
she began to die
slowly.
he was the only one
close enough to notice.
he did not care.
and when
her heart and soul grew
too tired of their dance
in her soot-covered dress,
he walked away.
but he ran back to her corpse
to remove the band-aids
so that they could be reused
next time.
