Real Or Not?
We make up the monsters in our nightmare,
so we don't have to face the ones that are real,
pretending that they aren't and never were there,
but the wounds they gave you still need to heal,
The vampires, goblins, ghosts, the evil of our dreams,
remain in our head, as we block out the rest,
the wars, the crime, the murders, the shrill screams,
scar us so deeply, like a knife stuck in our chest.
There's things we learn that we don't want to know,
there are things we see but don't want to truly believe,
Feelings we have that we suppress so they don't show,
Loved ones that we have lost but we never truly grieve,
The worst of all is the imaginary demons we fight,
as the real and true ones take us in the light.
