Aurora
Like a summer fling, the sun stopped flirting and left without saying goodbye. The dark sauntered back to town, beautiful and unforgiving. With it came the green glow on the cold nights. At first I ignored its temptations and clung to the comfort of my cabin, the warmth of my wood stove. But one clear night, I heard the subtle green glow singing to me. I stepped into the dark and listened for its song. I followed its hum and when I found it, the green glow was dancing. I leaned against the boulders, watching, too entranced to interrupt. It stole the sky and shined bright. Realizing it was no longer alone it reached out to my childlike wonder, inviting me to join. It had been too long since we enjoyed one another’s company and so we danced, we jumped, we whistled and hollered. I laughed, it smiled its purple grin, and I was embraced by a hug from the lights.
