Angry Angerson
Anger is the reason for my anger. At least that was how people thought for a long time.
We can trace the idea back to the Greeks, who attributed qualities and feelings with beings. Things like; Love, Despair, Fear, Anger, Joy, were all thought to be brought about by a being who encapsulated that quality or feeling. That is where we get the idea of "letting Fear in," or "don't let Anger creep up on you."
And like all of these beings, Anger would look for opportune times and places to impose itself, usually for its own purposes.
Once that door or window were open, Anger would take advantage and seize partial control, or at least make a visit.
It is an interesting concept, but allowed people to escape blame for their own actions (we actually still have laws which allow for "being seized by Rage" as an acceptable excuse). It is also part of the reason we see the acceptance of a more brutal society in the ancient world.
So what makes me angry?
