Hark, The Fallen Angels Sing
It's Christmas time in Brimstone. Snow is falling, schools are cancelled, and shoppers fought over the last Christmas gifts. In one big red house on 999 Milton Avenue, the Gravely gals are getting ready for another memorable Christmas, decorating their home's interior top to bottom with joyous and festive decorations. Carmen Gravely baked fresh holiday sugar cookies while Rosemary and Regan planted multicolored ornaments on their new pine tree that stood in the heart of the living room. Bright smiles lightened the room as yuletide flourished with every tinsel wrapped furniture. Yet there was one family member absent from their festivities. One who could, if he could, make this holiday season a devilish good time.
"So girls, this is going to be our first Christmas with Lu," Carmen said, placing a fresh batch of cookies . "Let's try to make this one memorable like all the others."
"Is Mike coming over?" Regan asked, finishing off with the last Christmas ornament.
"He said maybe last time we talked. We'll have to wait and see."
"Are you sure he's okay with this?" Rosemary asked. "I mean he is the devil after all."
"I'll admit I don't know what his opinion of the holiday season are, all things considered." Their mother hesitantly said. "But you know Lu, always willing to try something new."
"What if Lu doesn't like Christmas?" Regan asked again, this time sounding more worried in her voice.
"Don't worry about it, sweetheart." Carmen reassured her worried daughter. "Then we'll just celebrate it in secret. Ready to head down below?"
The Gravely gals walked down to the hallway and entered inside the devil's installed elevator. Mrs. Gravely pressed one of the buttons and they all held on tightly to the rusted, gold rail as the doors slammed shut and the elevator dropped rapidly. They felt weightless beneath their feet as the small metal box fell further below. A catchy melody played, clearing the room of its silence. The elevator crashed to a complete stop and the three entered, much to their great surprise, a realm no longer made of fire and misery.
The dark realm was cold and covered in snow. They were unsure if it was real or artificial, but it looked and felt like snow. The vast lake of fire was now a gigantic sheet of ice with damned souls trapped in frozen blocks. The Gravely gals looked around and saw demons dressed in holiday attires and singing joyous carols. Demonic goats charioted sleigh rides to the excitable, young demon spawns as their parents munched on Christmas meat. They saw Lilith giving kisses to all the patrons under a mistletoe. They even saw Lu's adviser, the great sorcerer Legion dressed as Santa Claus and entertaining children on his multiple laps.
The tower was decked from top to bottom with ornaments and holly like a stone Christmas tree. Bright red and green lights flashed on and off with the words "Merry Christmas" shining through the darkness.
Carmen, Rosie, and Regan all dropped their jaws at the sight of all the happy festivities going on below. It was a sight no one could have predicted. Then Rosie finally spoke out. "I thought Hell freezing over was a figure of speech."
