Before I met you, 

I was ready to settle down with my ex and buy a house.

I was prepared to live in the city I was born in for the rest of my life.

Life got in the way,

As it does.

Fortunately,

I met you. 

You made the world my playground,

dusted the dirt off my knees when I fell,

and got me back on my feet with a soft smile and a bad joke.

Now here we are,

Unsure of what we're doing,

When only a month ago we were inseparable.

Distance has a funny way of separating heart and mind. 

You say you want me,

and only me,

and in the same breath,

you don't want me at all.

I'd climb mountains for you,

stand at the tallest peaks,

and free fall into darkness,

If I knew you'd be waiting at the bottom for me.

I've always been scared of heights,

but with you by my side,

I have no fear.
