Clock Shop
tick tock timepieces
awake from rhythmic slumber
the plenary of pendulums
agree that it is time
birds burst forth on brass branches
call cacophonous cuckoos
once, twice, thrice,
then the doors snap shut
echoes fly away
like dispersing dryads
a cloak of silence settles
over chronometer shoulders
broken only by the murmur
of clocks counting to themselves
tick tock, tick tock
no time will be lost
on their watch
