A Few Dull Colours
I straightened my tie and checked my hair in the elevators shiny door,
it was the first-time I´d ever worn a suit to any job, let alone had my hair so tidy.
I clutched my briefcase and gulped as the doors opened onto the penthouse floor.
As soon as I stepped out a deep voice said “Are you the Mr Green, here for the personal assistant position?”
I nodded then said “Yes I am, sorry I am a little early”.
A tall man walked towards me and commanded me to follow him, adding
“Mr Grey is in his office, he is expecting you”.
The man, the butler I presumed opened a tall carved wooden door and said “Go in”,
then closed it behind me. Nervously I walked into the darkened room, in front of me in the light of an enormous window I could see a large wooden desk with a person sitting with their back to me, looking outwards.
Then he spoke “Good day Mr Green, I have been looking forward to meeting you, I read in your résumé that you are very inexperienced, but willing to learn”. His voice was squeaky, very high and dare I say it extremely effeminate.
I really had to try not to laugh, it was as if I was in a room with Papa Smurf or someone.
“Come sit here” he said as he turned and faced me, Mr Grey was not what I´d assumed him to look like at all.
Mr Grey was slim, sharp faced, high cheek bones with the poutiest lips I´d ever seen on a man, he was almost too beautiful to be a man! His hair was slicked backed with a delicate twirl on one side of his forehead.
“So, Mr Green I hope you are good at licking?” he smiled
I frowned but said “Umm yes I think I am”.
Smiling again he added “Cus honey there is going to be an awful lot of stamps and envelopes for you to deal with”.
He went into his draw and took out a huge pile of letters and pushed them towards me.
“Now you get those done by midday and I won´t have to punish you” he said sternly.
Then giggled and added “They´ll be no bran muffin and coffee for you girl tomorrow morning”.
Loudly he suddenly said “OOOhhww I just thought of something funny, I´m Mr Grey,
you’re Mr Green and muscles out there in the hall way, is Mr Black”.
Getting out of his large chair or what I thought was a large chair Mr Grey pranced over to a side table, he was so tiny!
Turning around with a glint in his eyes he asked “Would you like a coffee Mr Green?”
Adding “Now I wonder do you like small and dark? I myself like tall and creamy”.
Licking his finger tip slowly he looked at me and said “Ooopsie sorry dipped it in your coffee by accident, but I don´t have cooties”.
As he passed me he brushed my shoulder and said “Lint darling” then sat back in his seat.
“Now Mr green all I expect is a full day’s work, come...on time and don´t feel that you have to bend over…backwards to please me” he added.
“I´m a fairly easy guy…to work for”.
