Dear Mother,
She's beautiful as she rises so close to me
She greets me at my door, sparkling with your darling sun
She rages, pounding hard with the temper of the clouds and the moon
She's a goddess and a sin all in one
She's a home to my friends, although they hide in her depths of sorrow and darkness
She's a prison to many losses, many treasures too
She calms, a stillness of simplistic beauty
I stare at her and reflect
She's endless, unbelievable
I can't believe I get to greet her every day, and as her neighbor too
She and I are like siblings, combating for your affection
Yet we are like lovers, colliding and weaving in beauty
So dear Mother, please leave us be
Let us fight in envy and love
Let us grace your creatures with everything you gave us
Let us be unharmed and unbroken
Smile upon us with everything you have
All the love of the land and the sea,
Your children
