When sadness falls . . .
Cry alone,
With the front door shut,
Tears riding your face,
Like raindrops down a clean window.
Cry . . .
Weep profoundly,
Like you’ve lost a lover
Or found a friend …
& your chest hurts, deeply.
Weep.
Sob-shaking,
Quaking, with river-shivers,
Heart-pounding, beat-sounding,
Responding to Heaven’s call.
Sob.
Then wash your face,
With bright cold water,
& start your day a-new.
