Our World War Begins Today
One 8 year old on a balcony
Of an orphanage home to many
The year was 1941
The bombing had just begun
But Audrie did not run away
For our World War begins today
She stared down at the playing kids
Then sister came barging in
"She pulled the plug on the jukebox"
For what happened next was not a shock
"Pearl Harbor was bombed" said sister
But no one would talk or even stir
Pearl Harbor was unknown that Sunday
But our World War began that day
A little while later
A film they would wait for
"Every Wednesday we would have a movie"
A Disney film they would see
But before the flick was put on
They would sing a certain type of song
"Let's remember Pearl Harbor" they would sing
And the children were such darlings
That they didn't know what Pearl Harbor was
But they knew their lives were a gift from above
For in the war days one had to pray
As our World War begins today
And now dear reader you must know
That there is much time to grow
Please cherish all your memories
As you may go down in history
But you might not have much time
For our life on earth is a short little line
And their World War went down that day
But the third war begins today
