Harry Situation’s Countdown Reviews: Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope
A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...
STAR WARS
EPISODE IV
A NEW HOPE
It was the year 1977, where the world was in need of a new epic
blockbuster. Then a man by the name of George Lucas wrote and
directed what is considered one of the greatest movies ever made,
in a time of war over politics and greed.
The film was an instant hit with critics and audiences. And from
there a new saga, one that would rival that from another hit
science fiction series, Star Trek.
And you can bet your ass I’m going to review each Star Wars
movie like an opening crawl. How can I not?
Yes, the time has come. Counting down to the release of Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi, I will be reviewing each Star Wars film that was theatrically released starting with A New Hope to The Force Awakens. So let’s begin this epic journey together.
I don’t think there is anyone out there that was never seen or heard of Star Wars before. You’re all familiar with the story by now. A young farmer named Luke Skywalker (played by the definitive Joker himself Mark Hamill) finds a pair of droids have hold a message from Princess Leia (played by the late Carrie Fisher :’( ). They then meet a wise old man named Obi-Wan Kenobi who decides to instruct Luke in the ways of the force. Having learned that droid also carries the plans of the Galactic Empire’s deadliest weapon, the Death Star, they recruit the scruffy-looking smuggler Han Solo (played by Harrison Ford) and his Wookie copilot Chewbacca (played by Peter Mayhew) the journey off only to be hunted and captured by the Empire, led by the Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Vader (voiced by James Earle Jones).
Do I really have to talk about this one? It’s fucking Star Wars! Of fucking course it’s awesome.
The acting is amazing, the characters are lovable memorable, the writing is quotable, the special effects (for the time) is amazing. Even John Williams epic score is still awesome after all these years.
You know what? I’m not even going to bother talking too much about this one. It’s fucking Star Wars. Sure you can accuse me for being lazy, but then again it’s fucking Star Wars. You already know how awesome it is.
You remember every part scene for scene. You remember all the dialogue word for word. For every character you remember their names and faces because they left such an impact. I honestly don’t know what I really can say about it.
There’s a reason this is one of my favorite movies of all time, as well as a favorite for many movie goers. It is a timeless classic. It was the one that got us all hooked on this universe and we wanted to be part of it every time we rewatch it. I absolutely love this movie. I love it so much that there really are no negatives about it.
I apologize if this review feels a little half-assed. I’m pretty tired from working all day and I’m packing to head down to visit family in Illinois this Memorial Weekend. But honestly what do you really want me to say about it? It’s awesome. You already know how awesome it is.
Light Side: Dark Side:

-Great writing

-John William’s epic score
