Once Upon My Time...

A little girl with childhood fantasies,

The princess, waiting in the tower,

for that knight to come save her. 

A dragon keeping guard, and her all alone

to dream of true love's kiss. 

A dream of that kiss, the hope that it would

bring, love at first sight. A promise of forever, 

and happily ever after. 

Life is not a fairytale though. I am not a little girl,

and while sassy and beautiful, a princess I am not.

My knight never came, and the dragon I had to tame,

now it's my pet, and together we stay in the tower.

Yet, why even now, do I dream of true love's kiss.

Why do I believe in that happily ever after?

Am I a fool, a hopeless romantic?

Or, is it because I know if I step out of this tower,

I might just find what I am truly looking for,

My Prince....the one that has my true love's kiss.
