Evil Mutant Space Pirates are taking over The World
The young man strolled through the ruins of the park enjoying the chilled air with a thoughtful look on his chiseled face and continued down the cement path. He turned to look at the tired playground in the distance. It was surrounded by wood chips and trees, a single lamp post was set behind an odd, taint bench. He frowned slightly seeing as though no one had taken care of this place while he was gone, a once fun-filled and peaceful world filled with memories of every child that played on it was now something out of a horror story. The low whines of the swings, rusty and exposed, sent a chill to crawl along his skin. The once yellow tube had turned to an ugly camile color which was barely visible through the overgrown mosses and vines, his pale-blue eyes looked over at the slide. It was still there, thankfully, but it had taken on some damage as well-its bus yellow continued to stand out amongst its rather dead looking counter parts though the paint was peeling to reveal almost a rotted brown and had morphed some over the years that it now laid with more of a slope than curve down the middle of it. He started to smile and walked over, enjoying the scratch of wood chips along the bottom of his boots, coming right up to the side of the slide he let his hand run up the smooth plastic surface and traveled over to the metal bars of it, fingers catching and slipping into each one of the tarnished, green poles. Letting his hand fall back into his coat pocket the man walked over to the swings and sat in one. The memories began to come flooding back.
"Come on, Theo! We've gotta stop them and I need your help."
The small girl laughed happily, her choclate brown hair falling out of its pony tail shaping her round, soft face. Her emerald green eyes were filled with adventure as she gave another giggle and wiped her runny nose with the end of the blue scarf around her neck. Her cheeks had gained a soft red tint to them along with her small nose but she didn't care, the cold weather never bothered her in the slightest, in fact she loved it.
"But there is nothing here."
The tall boy sniffed and looked at the girl confused, he was wearing a baggy, tan sweater that went down to his knees with a pair of ripped jeans and black boats. His blue eyes took in every beautiful detail of the young girl, his short, black shaggy hair fell in his face which he quickly fixed not wanting to look even more a mess. He didn't even know how he got in this situation, one moment he was just trying to read his book and then the next some girl with a bright red coat on had run up to him and was asking if he could help defeat the evil mutant space pirates trying to take over the world! She only shook her head as the grin on her face grew wider.
"Of course there is, silly! You have to make it up in your head, use your imagination."
She made jazz hands when she said' "Imagination" and looked at him excited. When she first saw him it was a few weeks back, the boy seemed so diffrent from anyone else she had met before. He always wore the same excact thing everyday, he always looked at the same book and never talked to anyone, but why? It was always good to talk to someone and have friends, why would you want to be alone and not play cool games? Why would you want to read a book anyway? They're dumb and boring, bleh! After seeing him a few times she made up her mind to go and talk to him but always missed him at the last second, one moment there the next, Poof! He's gone.
"Imagination?"
He asked, tilting his head to the side. The girl looked at him shocked before tapping her chin with a gloved finger.
"Just wait here, I need to talk to the professionals."
She went from the playful and wild to completly seriuos in three seconds flat. Only nodding the boy watched as he was now facing the girls back. Who were, "The professionals?"
The girl remained turned and began to tap her chin again before pointing at something on her left.
"You! How do we explain this?"
Theo looked at her even more confused and looked to where she was pointing. There was nothing there.
"Um...there is-" She cut him off and held a finger up to his face.
"Shush! I'm listening. Don't you know it's rude to talk when somone else is talking?"
She gave an annoyed huff and turned to look at...whatever she was looking at. Theo just stood there dumbfounded.
"You may continue, Ticky. Don't mind him."
She just stared and nodded, as if someone was actually there and was listening to what they were saying.
"Alrighty then, lets try this!"
She suddenly spoke up after an awkaward 5 minutes causing Theo to jump as she turned to look at him with a determined look on her, holding a hand out to the boy.
"Imagination is just making things up. I want you to do that with me and save planet earth!"
Theo didn't understand what it meant to make things up, he simply saw what he saw and went with it. There was no need to make things up when other things were going on, it was a waste of time. The girl frowned before putting the smile back on and keeping her hand out.
"Come on, just try it. You can trust me."
He looked at her and then at her hand slowly grabbing it, a small smile slowly forming.
"O-ok...I trust you."
The man was broken out of his thoughts when he heard footsteps behind him, he looked back to be met with a smiling woman. She had long, brown hair that was falling out of its pony, a bright red jacket, and a blue scarf around her neck. Icy blue eyes met with emerald green.
"You wanna save the world from mutant space pirates?"
Theo chuckled and nodded.
"I'd love to, Abby."
