A Few More Things

I’m just a visitor to life -

I’ll pack up my mind

and go elsewhere.

Too many parts of me

have spilled on the ground.

I have scraped and taped

and whitewashed my past,

but it’s all been so fast

and my sins are too vast.

I wish I weren’t

the one to blame,

but all the same -

I wish to cloak myself

in a new name

and start all over again.

I will pry open my mind

like a blossoming flower

and let all the color

seep into my head.

I won’t have to go far

slinging my mind

in my backpack of life

but why can’t I take

just a few more things?
