Angels

An angel came to set me free, to shine light in the darkness so I could see.

I’m sorry sweet angel, You can’t set me free

The darkness is where I’m meant to be

Further weakened with each attempt. The angel tried and tried, and tried again. Each time she failed, the angel wept, but failing me, she could not accept.

From my darkness the angel began to fade. Her wings broke off and her glow turned grey. Though it pained me to see the angel this way, in the darkness, I remained, as she faded away.

Last night the darkness promised me, that he would finally set my sad soul free. I wanted so badly to take his hand, and let him take me away from this land.

The pain I felt swallowed me whole. The darkness told me I must deal with it alone.

So I reached for him, but the angel held me tight, and told me that It’ll all be alright.

With tears in her eyes, she offered her soul, and showed me that darkness is not where I should go.

‘You matter’ she said to me. “You couldn’t imagine the pain you’d cause if you leave.”

Everyone needs an angel sometimes

If we all gave up on the people we love when they’re lost, then eventually we’d all find ourselves lost.

So be an angel, for the one that’s lost their way. Hold them close and tell them it’ll all be ok.

For now, my friends, I must say goodbye.

I’ve tried to keep up but Im falling behind. I’m letting down the ones I love. So I must leave the darkness, and rise above.

When you are ready, I’ll be waiting for you.

I’ll be your angel, and stand by your side

When you’re ready to leave the darkness behind.
