"I'm not sure why every leaf must die..."
Create a poem with this beginning.
You Can Try but This Leaf Wont Die
I’m not sure why
every leaf must die
I question it to be true.
As a Canadian boy
raised with pride there’s
one thing I always knew.
The Maple leaf is forever,
our symbol our sign
we will surrender it never
as it’s come to define
our people our pleasure
as we take it wherever
a Canadian you can find
Its seen the shores of Africa
and D-day we remember
it was at the Somme
for four months long
till victory in November.
At Passchendaele and Vimy Ridge
we raised the leaf on high
At Queenston heights and Lundy’s lane
Canadians behind it were willing to die
If Two world wars and the USA couldn’t kill this leaf
am I unfounded to say this in my belief
that as you wonder why
every leaf must die
I think not
and every time we fought
for our Maple Leaf and why.
