Waiting for a flight

On a half abandoned air field

I stand looking out across the runway

there’s thunder in the air,

the sky’s fifty shades of grey

There are snakes in the grass

but the monsters are in the government

they keep the children starving

Media gloates upon their torment

It keeps the aid money rolling in

their coffers for to fill

but they’ve got their fountain of eternal youth

In palace upon the hill

A day in the life of my alter ego

Would be in a place such as this.

To show the rest what a mess we’ve made

And why I’m so serious.
