Beautiful Mary
Mary is a little girl with a swinging pocketbook. She loves to play in her yard and swing on her nice swing set. One day a caterpillar crawled onto her new pocketbook. She looked at her and said, "Mrs. Caterpilla, why are you on my new pocketbook?" The caterpillar popped off onto the swing. Mary said " I didn't mean to offend you, Mrs. Caterpilla. I was just trying my best not to panic when I saw you."
The caterpillar walked off and went to the top of the swing. Mary said,
"Can I apologize for being that way? I would love for you to walk in my new pocketbook." At that moment she popped off the swing and
back on the pocketbook. Mary was amazed. She heard her and she understood her. How could that be? She's a bug. She doesn't have feelings. Or do she? Mary wondered. Mary decided to tell her something. She said, "Mrs. Caterpilla, I'm so glad you're not scared of me like I was scared of you." Mrs. Caterpilla stopped and wiggled her head back and forth. Mary was stunned. Mary asked her could she hear her. She wiggled her head up and down. She asked her could she talk. She wiggled her head back and forth. She asked her was she lost. She wiggled her head back and forth. She
asked her had she been there long. She wiggled her head up and down. Mary decided to ask her the last and most important question.
She asked her was she about to turn to a butterfly. She wiggled her head up and down. Mary was happy. Mary remembered the life of
a caterpillar from school. Mary told Mrs. Caterpilla to come to visit her anytime she was around. She wiggled her head up and down. Just then she popped off onto a piece of grass and disappeared. Mary went into the house with a big smile on her face. She promised herself she would not tell a soul about what had just happened. Two weeks later, Mary was swinging on her swing set and a beautiful butterfly flew over and landed on her pocketbook. Mary was amazed. She said, "Mrs. Caterpiller is that you looking so beautiful?" The butterfly flew to her nose and wiggled her head up and down. Mary said,
"You are simply beautiful." "Now I will call you Mrs. Beautiful because you are no longer a caterpillar." She wiggled her head up and down.
Mary was so happy. Mrs. Beautiful flew on top of the swing set and watch Mary swing until Mary went into the house. Mary had a new friend that was simply Beautiful.
