A Man Walks in to a Bar...
Only because it was set far too low,
Do we seek to achieve the minimal.
Progress really is way to slow,
Our achievements false and criminal.
We set out on a journey doomed from the start,
To a destination that we know is fake.
It's all wrong and we know deep in our hearts,
But the dollars are much sweeter to take.
Why is it OK to settle for so much less,
And aim so purposely and accurately off target?
With groups, and labels, and the whole prejudice mess,
That proves to be such a profitable market.
We're so anti this, and anti that,
Yet, when achieved only leaves us at zero.
Who's got the pitch to go full bat,
And hit that home-run, to become a hero?
Because when the bar is constantly set too low,
There's always a guy who'll walk into one,
Let's set our sights high and move not so slow,
And become a civilization to depend on.
