Justice is Blind
Themis stands in the courtroom with her eyes blindfolded, one hand holding a sword, the other holding the scale of justice. The lawyer of the prosecutors finishes his opening statement and sits down. The defendant's lawyer stands up to begin his, but all the defendant can think of is the pain the family of the victim has endured. No matter how many times he would plead innocent, no one would listen. No one cared. They wanted him locked up and out of harm's way. In their eyes he was a danger to society and should be put in prison for life. He needed to learn his lesson. He needed to realize that he is a monster. He wasn't allowed to be forgiven of his fault. He wasn't allowed to be seen as equal with every other person on Earth. He was a menace, an wicked psychopath stuck in his ways of violence. The projects hadn't made him like this. They had only given him a platform from which to build upon. Yet they swore by the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. All the while, justice is blind.
