The Rain
Dark clouds so thick they change the day
From bright and warm to misty grey
A cool breeze blowing all around
But on my face, a smile found
With storm clouds growing oh so near
I know that you are almost here
And as the sky, at last, gives in
I feel You with me once again
As water falls I start to see
The remnants of your memory
Of better times, before the pain
Of times before you were the rain
Each drop a smile, hug, or kiss
Reminders of the things I miss
Like tears of sadness from above
That drench me in forgotten love
I close my eyes and feel you there
Falling through the humid air
And, suddenly, the pain I’ve known
Is gone and I don’t feel alone
And as the rain and tears subside
I wish that you were by my side
To help me find a better way
To face the lonely, sunny day
