Untitled.
Who am I? I cannot say
’Cept not who I was yesterday
For, yesterday has come and passed
Yet here I am still standing fast.
No time for heartache, tears, or grief
The road ahead is my relief!
Pursuing what I cannot grasp
And working towards an endless task
Onward! Upward! ’til I am spent
Content, am I, with discontent
The sting of failure drives me on
When all my strength and will are gone
And in my head, a thought, it rings
With hope of what tomorrow brings
For where I was nothing before
Tomorrow offers so much more
Moving forward sets me free
For I am not enough for me
So, who I am tomorrow, then,
Will be no more than who I’ve been
And who I’ve been is left behind
A fleeting image in my mind
To make way for who I could be
The man, one step ahead of me
Who am I? I cannot say
’Cept not the man you saw today
Tomorrow dawns so, as I’ve said,
The man you saw today is dead.
