We Are Here
Lives pulsing
moving
gyrating frantically
to the beat
the rhythm of a
heart knitted
stitched together by
time
by the ages
by need of man to
defend against massive
drooling beasts
in untamed forests
by philosophers with
white beards and sharp
eyes whose thoughts
spun law from chaos
by steadfast architects
with hardy hands
and concrete callouses
who purified
molded earth like tiny
mortal gods
sentient termites
ensuring with labor
the growth
the continuity
of our Hill
Workers
Soldiers
Queens and Kings
appointed by the
milling masses
or festooned by
bloody battle
we are
individualized yet
categorized
magnified and
classified
a culmination of
millennia in millions
of lives unraveling
and expanding
beside one another
building and evolving
coalescing light so
bright
from space
we form our own
boldly burning
stars.
