competition

i look at the world all starry-eyed and loose-jawed and i say

I’m going to blow them all away.

but my shadow opens its hungry mouth

and says to me, smugness dripping from its teeth

I’ve already blown them all away.

And I have the medals to prove it.

and then what do i do?
