It’s Spring Again
It’s Spring again.
Barren trees
in the backyard
have leaves again.
Mosquitoes fly by,
Big as airplanes.
Flies fly by, too—
big as birds.
Soon heat will arrive
& Spring, like an old friend,
will wave goodbye
& leave.
It’s Spring again.
Flowers kiss the Sun.
Grass grows,
thick & fast.
Doors & windows
will soon close
& artificial air
will bruise my skin.
So long, Spring.
You’re my favorite.
Next year,
can you stay longer?
