The beat of a butterfly’s wings...

They say the beat

Of a butterfly’s wings

Can create a hurricane

Far

Oh so far

Down the line

I’m scared

Of having

So much power

Of all the potential

My fragile wings

Possess

Can I stay

Warm and wrapped

Inside my dark cacoon?

Just an ornament

A chrysalis

Upon a dainty leaf?

I wait and muse

Will I smother?

Am I alive?

Or am I dead?

Inside my blessed prison

Do I truly exist?

I choke

I fight

I want to breathe

I emerge into the world

I am born

And so are the possibilities
