A Second Chance

The earth has resumed turning;

The clock switched on again

We emerge from hiding; the sunlight's blinding

as we return to a world we once knew.

Stranger now, the streets appear brighter now

and the birds are chirping a new tune.

We step out from the shadows,

eyes filled with wonder.

The trees in bloom, the air renewed

astonished by what we see.

A destruction that roamed the streets, that forced us to retreat

had left behind an unknown beauty.

We approach with caution

the question of how we shall rebuild our lives once more.

After so long in the darkness, can we find the courage

to start over?

We are stronger now, We've found power in being broken down

and this time, we will do better.
