i see the sun in your eyes

you say you can see the moonlight in my eyes,

but i can see the sun in yours,

if you look hard enough,

you’ll often miss what you’re meant to find,

it’s not love i fear,

but being unworthy of yours,

you see i grapple with the hate i create,

and the love i feel for you,

if i am the moon, then you must be the sun,

for i only shine because you allow me to,

in a world of prescription pills,

how sane it is to feel crazy with you,

you know the moon will sing when the sun dies,

a hymn of mourning with the stars,

the little dipper will wave farewell,

but the waves will no longer come forth,

the end is inevitable but it’s not finite,

you’ll go on long after you’ve left,

and no longer will you see the moonlight in my eyes,

but i will still see the sun in yours.
