lost familiar, found in us
I saw him ponder in the night, silently sitting by the tree
legs close to his chest, hands on his knees
there was just something about him
and the look on his face
when the moonlight touched his skin...
those tired eyes,
it made me sit by his side and take his hand gently in mine
leaving us in comfortable stillness
until the night,
slowly reached the fragile dawn
those moments of steady peace
between two fractured souls,
just sharing heartbeats and breaths under the star-filled sky
not fearing the heavy clouds
or the promise of rain
late summer wind touching us in sweet murmurs
singing of something yet unknown
but that was always with us
in the end
swirling in our blood
like a salty storm
sticking to the parched lips
as we prepared ourselves to dive
I saw him ponder in the night, silently sitting by the tree
legs close to his chest, hands on his knees
we have the same roots to keep us strong
all there is needed is a helping hand
and a heart,
wiling to sway in the same rhythm
those sound made for us to hear
now
just
l i s t e n
it’s there
