Christmas Time In Rhyme
The tree made from outdoorsy pine,
cut fresh for the holidays in perfect time,
to the smells of cookies fresh from the oven,
something every child is lovin'.
The tree stands tall and proud,
and when all the sparkly balls ar hung,
the colors will speak loud,
as loud as the Christmas songs are sung.
Lights wrapped with precision around each prickly limb,
and certainly not on a whim,
for each year the lights are checked to make sure they light,
or else it is off to the store in a frenzied flight.
Two things left to give this a look.
checking the tree's every nanny and crook,
placing the tinsel in odd disarry,
gives it a mystic appeal in an odd sort of way.
Finally the star, placed at the top of tree,
an angel that lights for the world and me.
Now off to grab presents to sit under this work of art,
but where to put them and how; I don't know where to start.
Gifts wrapped in colors like a living rainbow,
this has become a holiday show;
each gift wrapped with ribbon and lace,
each has finally been seated and put in place.
Sitting back, drinking hot cocoa,
I think, "I don't know,"
when outside my window I hear the merriment of song,
look back at the tree and decide nothing is wrong.
My eyes get heavy from all the planning I have done,
letting the eyes drift down into a dream,
I awake sometime later, to see no tree, no gift, not even one,
fancy the dream that took me back in time, so it would seem.

I don't really have a favorite holiday movie.
