Not Coming Back

She’s not coming back for sure

The door slammed like a hammer on a nail

My bleeding heart sliding down the gutter

The world comes down with it into darkness

I wonder where to begin again, is it possible?

After so much disappoinment pooling like blood

from a solider shot on the battlefield of love

Is there a doctor to treat this great infection,

To medicate it with hope and great courage

So that I may see tomorrow through this red haze

And wake from the pain to reach for better days
