Family is ‘Forever’
You always used to say: "Family is important".
Though I know now, you didn't really mean me.
Family mattered to you, only when it wasn't abhorrent.
Your mind is so very twisted, I know you can't possibly see.
When they were like dying flowers in need,
you were the first to step up, to help them grow.
Though, I'd already been determined a weed.
Before anyone could have ever known.
Because family was so valuable,
but I wasn't your real family, was I?
I was just a needy basketful,
so why even bother to try.
How little you helped hurt,
It broke me, when I saw how you could care.
Felt like you left me in the dirt,
and while you loved all the others, I could only stare.
So now, I've vowed to my heart,
family is not a safe place.
I know that is comfortable for a start,
I can make my very own safe space.
