Shadow of the Sun
Sitting alone in a room, thoughts confused.
Feeling the weight of the day.
My emotions are raw, and bitter and sweet.
I know not which way to go, the path is unclear.
I have lost my way,
As the days go by, the sun goes down.
As the shadows grow longer.
I stare blankly at this reflection.
Who is this soul, this shadow of the sun.
My thoughts scattered along fifteen passageways
Heart is spit between two.
I look for a glimmer of sanctuary.
A shard of confidence.
A moment of Tranquility, harmony, composure.
It escapes me, like the whisper of a dream.
I am falling under its weight.
As the days go by, the sun goes down.
I stare blankly at this reflection.
As the shadows grow longer.
Who is this soul, this shadow of the sun.

I wrote this poem thinking of my Aunt who has Alzheimer’s. I tried to imagine what her world must be like now.
