Social Media and Civil War
I had a conversation with someone today. They told me that they had been permanently banned
from a popular social media platform for calling a certain right wing political pundit a blond bimbo. What galls me is that this pundit and her ilk from both sides of the aisle have done far worse. I’ve seen instances of xenophobia, homophobia and threatening behavior. Everybody’s opinion matters but nobody’s opinion matters. If someone is voicing their opinion on an Issue or topic I don't care for I don't tell them to shut up.
I listen to their viewpoint and then give them my argument to their opinion, or let them have their say and let it be.
If you don’t agree with a persons point of view that's fine. To be emotional or offended by a point of view is normal.
Flying off into a full blown diatribe of hate, racism and violence is wrong.
Social media has made it easier for people to hide behind the anonymous mask of hatred.
What people don’t understand they Fear, what people fear angers them. Anger and fear is what allows them to hate.
This anger and hatred has led to the general consensus that a civil war is coming. We are fighting each other, this is just what
the puppet masters want. Have we seriously become so infected with the sickness of hate and greed that we would let it
rend our souls, and divide us from humanity. If we as a society of HUMAN BEINGS don’t change, wake up from the nightmare,
and do what we know is right, then we deserve the consequences of our inaction. I know that there are huge racial and
soci-economic disparities in this country, but to declare war on one another, in the physical or digital world is ludicrous.
We as a society need to sit down and have a conversation, to try to remedy what ails us all. If we don't find a solution the path we are headed down will be the death of this nation.
Again I know I’m a little behind with this rant, and I really don’t know if it makes any sense at all. Maybe I’m just sick of people making comments that aren’t willing to be a part of the solution. I don’t have all the answers. I’m not a politician or counselor (Nor do I play one on TV) or advisor of any sort. I just think that we could spend our energies a little more constructively, instead of ragging, blaming and finger pointing.
Hmmm then again maybe I’m channeling Andy Rooney……Pissing and moaning again.
