Masks or Walls or Both?
While I was thinking about it, how do you protect yourself? Build a wall or wear a mask? Or perhaps both? Poetry only, in any form.
Master of Disguise
Unwilling to show her true self
Ashamed of what they'll say
Guarded by a facade
Which can change day to day
The thought of opening up
Would send chills through the nerves
Not knowing; what to expect
Allowing- but what may seem, undeserved
Ideas of heartache causes her to run
Which opens the wounds already sewn
Clouded judgement clogs the brain
Rejecting the pleasures in life to gain
Realizing she's ready for this masquerade ball to retire
Heading on a new path where masks are not required
Now it's time for the clock to strike twelve
Removing all masks that have otherwise dwelled
