A Man Deemed “Until”
For a man deemed “Until”
Life was draped in mystique
For no answer could fulfill
When he was exposed to a critique
When lads and lasses alike spoke of the man
They came to disagree and claimed “No, not Until”
To which they’d ask, “Tell, until what, if you can?”
And then the conversation came to a standstill.
“I mean, no! Not Until.” A man would say
“Yes, but until what?”
“Until, the man!” He declared as he shook his head in dismay
His words, however, would never make the cut
Frustrated he waved a finger
And his lips squeezed into a pout
He paced as he could not linger
And he began to shout
“Until, that cursed being!
The name that beseeched confusion in every word!”
“However, what point am I not seeing?
Was there a point I had not heard?”
The man shook his head in defeat
And dismissively waved a hand with a “Bah!”
Before he wandered off with brisk feet
The man had left, and the other thought, “Hallelujah!”
He ceased for a moment to think
As he found the man’s confusion baffled him
Only then did it begin to sink
Even if the chances of recovery were slim.
“Oh!” He laughed.
“Until, that’s his name!”
He stood, looking like a foolish calf
But, at least he’s not to blame
