Prologue: 13 years ago.
A group of demons were toasting to a news article. Disappearance 13 years after previous one.
Nate was a good kid. He got A’s and B’s in his classes and he stayed away from fights and drugs. He was a devout Christian and strived to do good deeds. It was simply a part of his integral character. One day, Nate was walking home from school, alone. He saw a bright light and was blinded for a second. When he could see, he saw a glowing heavenly figure with a rusty metal halo above it. It had beautiful wings, that seemed almost transparent, as he could see what he made out to be the pitch black darkness of the night.
“Are you an angel?” Nate asked. Out came the voice of the angel. There was a certain coldness to it that Nate attributed to the strong judicial character an angel must have.
“I am,” came the angel’s voice. Nate bowed down.
“Do you bring a message of the lord?” Nate asked.
“I do,” the angel said.
“Then, oh messenger of the lord, what is your message?”
“You have sinned. You shall go to hell, unless you complete a task for the Lord.” Nate felt puzzled by this. He had asked for forgiveness. Nevertheless, it WAS an angel.
“What task?” he asked.
The angel answered, “The Lord only wants me to disclose the first part..”
Nate nodded. That made sense.
“What is the first part?”
The angel rose its hands to the sky, and light blinded Nate once again.
“There is a hellish sinner, by the name of Richard Abraham,” the angel said.
Nate’s eyes lit up in confusion. Richard Abraham was a priest at his school. Still, he had asked too many questions and did not want to displease the Lord. He kept quiet.
“You must capture him, and bring him to me.”
Nate nodded and departed in the now night. When he got home, his parents were inquisitive to his whereabouts.
“I met an angel, Mom,” Nate said.
His parents slowly smiled at each other and said, “Very well.” They then turned the lights off. That night, Nate had nightmares of life in hell. When he woke up sweating for the third time, he knew that the nightmares would never stop until he captured his school’s priest. He knew where his priest lived, as he had attended several sermons held at Richard Abraham’s house. He snuck out of his house and biked to the house of the priest. He took a rope and entered the house through an open window.
When he got inside, he saw holy crosses everywhere. He fathomed that only the good Lord would be able to figure out what was wrong with this seemingly holy man. He creeped inside the bedroom. The priest lay sleeping, seemingly innocent. Nate smiled at the fact that he would help God capture a bad sinner. He thought of what would become of the sinner and shuddered. But, it was Nate or the priest.
Nate bound and gagged the man. The angel appeared.
"The God is very pleased." Nate was crying, scarred by tying up his priest.
He thought, "The God?", then nothing more of it.
The angel, which looked a little more worn, with a red with rust halo and greying transparent wings spoke, "Now the God has ordered me to inform you of the next part." Nate nodded.
"You must send him to hell. He is a satan worshipper.”
“But, the crosses…” Nate trailed off.
“ The crosses are simply guises for Satan’s symbol.” The angel held a hand of fire and burnt a cross. The wood eroded, revealing a symbol of Satan.
“Use this.” The angel handed Nate a scary looking box, “Take this box out on the street and open it. Take the satan worshipper along with you.”
Nate complied. He went out to the street and opened the box. Inside was a knife, enveloped by darkness. It had an aura of hell and evil. Nate was comforted only by a protruding cross, showing God’s condemnation. He pulled the knife back to stab the priest. His hand stopped. The cross on the knife was burning, underneath a satanic symbol. He cried, as his hand shook and brought the knife closer to his own chest, plunging it in. He noted the angel, now had dark wings and a crumbling halo made completely out of rust as he faded out of the world.
“Welcome to hell.”
