Stay in the Dark
It’s a simple misconception,
That shadows are creatures of the night
prowling in the darkness,
Waiting for your fright.
They are masters of deception,
For truly they’re children born of light
craving for your sense,
Of safety in the bright.
Hiding in what shines,
With hoarse whispers hanging,
In the somber air.
Selfishly hostile,
Stifling all helpless dreams and,
Tragic goals.
Hypnotizing horrors,
Of far away hopes.
Leaving you lying in
Desperation.
Are you scared?
How is your breathing?
Heartrate?
I guess the real question is,
Did you turn your lights on?
As a little kid,
Were you scared of the dark?
Did the lies fool your mind,
On where the real danger lies?
Don’t let their manipulation
Make you lose motivation.
Don’t fall into temptation
Of forgetting everything by medication.
Don’t lose your rationalization
or your self preservation.
And please please please,
Don’t let them,
Make you take a,
Permanent vacation.
Though I’m sorry to say,
You can’t escape this,
Devastating
Situation.
You will let your guard down.
You will let them win.
They are always waiting.
In the
silence
of the light.
