Seasons Bring
What happens?
When that star burns out,
The one
You wished on
Years ago,
That night,
When youthful hope
Caressed your skin
Like sweet Spring dew
On fresh-cut flowers.
What happened?
As sparklers fizzed,
That July 4th
On Hunter Hill
Above our town,
Whilst fireworks
Blushed the sky
With neon lips
Of red and blue.
(All night long.)
What’s happening?
This chilly Fall
As green leaves shift
From soft to brittle
Brown and orange,
Before their flight
(not up, but down)
As Earth’s
Harvest Fest
Ends.
What'll happen?
(Next)
When snowflakes drift
To cover tracks of . . .
One last visit;
One last kiss;
One final farewell—
With you in White,
Like an unseasoned Bride
On her wedding night.
