Challenge
~It's just a saying.~ Write a piece inspired by a common saying, using the saying as your title. Example: "Until the cows come home" or "Can't teach an old dog new tricks". All of these expressions have origins and meanings, but don't let that limit you, do whatever you want with the expression in your piece. Format and style of the piece are your choice.
Caught Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea
The choice is pretense, hell with him or hell alone
Shall I risk all, plunge into the depths of the unknown
Or cling to familiar chains that give some moments of peace
Either path surely guarantees pain, both offer sweet release
This battle of a broken heart waging against its own mind
Endlessly seeking answers that are simply not there to find
The true casualty of this war will undoubtably be me
As I am caught between the devil and the deep blue sea
