A different Crusade
Here is how the original story goes:
Heroic men, tall and strong, gathered outside the walls of Jerusalem, teeth bared, swords ready to slice through evil Saracens and take back the holy city. These are the crusaders.
You sure?
In reality, those 'Saracens' pretty much obliterated the 'mighty' crusaders, whilst being generous about it. Arabic doctors used newer methods to heal injured, helpless crusaders. On the other hand, Christian doctors, even with a small scratch, decided to chop off the limb altogether. I guess the phrase "Better safe than sorry'' really comes into account here.
Second, leader of the Seljuks(aka ruthless Saracens), Saladin, pretty much vanquished the crusaders altogether! Once, as the story goes, Saladin was about to lay siege to a Byzantian castle, but upon realizing that a wedding was taking place decided to delay the attack. Courteous gentleman indeed!
So, dear readers, if ever a person tells you about the 'noble' crusaders, show them this. And have a camera ready too.
