Harry Situation Reviews: Game of Thrones Season 6
Holy. Fucking. Shit.
Alright this is my one hundredth post on Prose and it just so happens to be about Game of Thrones Season 6. And there's a lot of shit to talk about this season. So, yeah, I want to talk about his season. So without further ado let's get this started. And yes there is a definite spoiler warning throughout this review, and I'm not going to talk about everything in Season 6. Just some of the important bits. Also more cursing in this review than usual. Apologies to those who are offended by foul language. My mother never fed me soap when I was a child.
1. Jon Snow lives
Yeah, Jon Snow returns from the dead, but I think we all knew that was coming. It sucked that Jon Snow was killed at the end of Season 5, but we all had a feeling that Melisandre, the Red Woman, will potentially revive him. And now he is alive again, and his assassins are executed. Boy it was so satisfying to see that little fucking shithead Olly die by Jon's hand.
2. Hold the Door
Dammit, that sucked so much! Poor Hodor. I never wept for the death of any character in this series until Hodor. He was the one character throughout the whole series that had no agenda or wanted anything for personal gain in his life. Why did he have to die?
Hold the door, Hodor! Hold the door! :(
3. Battle of the Bastards
Hands down the best episode of Season 6. This was a day that was coming for a long time. Jon Snow and the Wildlings vs Ramsay 'the fucking bastard' Bolton. And Bolton got his ass handed to him. And his ass was served to his starving dogs.
Ramsay was definitely a shithead that needed to die. Props to actor Iwan Rheon for portraying such a disgusting character. I didn't think there was a Game of Thrones character that could have earned my hatred more than Joffrey Baratheon, but somehow he pulled it off. Also that smile Sansa Stark gives at the end so satisfying.
Oh yeah and Rickon Stark is dead too. Yet I kind of figured he was a goner in this episode.
4. Everything in the Finale
Where do I even begin with this? So many poor bastards died in this episode alone. First of all it was interesting to see the High Sparrow and all of his followers taken out in a fiery fashion (pun intended), and I loved how this was all executed too. I figured that Cersei wasn't going to her own trial so instead she had wildfire place underneath the temple and when the time was right it all went up in smoke. Holy shit, the suspense building up to this climax was so amazing. I was left on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen.
Yet while Cersei got her revenge on the High Sparrow and his super religious cult, this action also killed off Margaery Tyrell and her brother. So now with the exception of Old Lady Tyrell, The Tyrell house is gone. Not just the Tyrells, but the Baratheons too. Yeah, Tommen, Joffrey's younger brother, committed suicide after realizing his queen is now dead. Which of course gave Cersei Lannister the chance to become Queen of the Iron Throne. Which means a huge shitstorm is coming to Westeros.
In addition, there is now a new King in the North: Jon Snow. My god, that scene where young lady Lyanna Mormont, girl whose already a fan favorite based on the number of memes I seen, gave that powerful speech about Jon Snow being the only king she and her house will serve and then all other houses in Winterfell chanted was amazing. Even I couldn't help myself but join the choir and chant, "King in the North."
And finally the biggy. Bran Stark is now the new Three-eyed Raven and he now knows about Jon Snow's heritage. This has been the biggest theory of Game of Thrones that Jon Snow is not the bastard son of Ned Stark but the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. And it was confirmed!
I honestly don't know what to say afterward. This season really picked up where Season 5 had slowed down. I can't wait to see what comes from Season 7. No grading scale again. This season: A+
So have you caught up with Game of Thrones? What was your favorite episode this season? Anything awesome I may have missed? Be kind and give a live and a comment or two.
And thank you, thank you all. This is my one hundredth post here on Prose. One hundred posts in three months! Damn! I can't wait to get started on the next one hundred.
